Just beat #SuperMetroid for the first damn, and damn it's an excellent game. Bosses are awesome, sound design is on point, and that elevator down to lower Norfair got me so pumped.

My biggest complaint is that a couple decades of time has revealed that shortcuts / warp points would be really useful for backtracking. I especially got lost in Merida and had to loop back through Brinstar like 3 times.

Merida's sand is just the absolute worst and I could never figure out how to jump out of it effectively. Space jump sounds great on paper but it just doesn't jump like 40% of the time for seemingly no reason.

I also definitely needed a walkthrough to reference when I got stuck. There were some really subtle things I missed and would never have found without it. (Looking at you, BS fake wall after Ridley that isn't visible with the X-Ray scope.)

I definitely appreciated that the world is much more open than #MetroidDread. There are a few one-way doors which still frustrate me, but much less often. @develwoutacause/1467017588051877890?s=20&t=hP2YP-yN0CbUoIYIWQBgXA

Overall I had a lot of fun. This definitely makes want to replay #MetroidFusion or give #MetroidPrime another try. I'm kind of sad we didn't get many more 2D #Metroid games, hopefully Dread is an indicator of even more to come.
