      @Jakeherringbone Definitely, I know I got my start with genrules and macros, and it's a big jump from there to learn about custom rules. I'd almost argue that product teams *shouldn't* write their own rules, because as soon as the author moves on, their teammates will be lost.

    @Jakeherringbone That's more of a Google-scale observation which makes a lot of assumptions about org size and culture I admit, might not apply to every company using Bazel.
